@iarocks44 Actually, wars don't stimulate the economy long term, because they take away from building infrastructure at home. They like wars because they know most major media likes wars, and it will give them a popularity boost. And, Ford did, given the actions of his government in East Timor in 1975.

@iarocks44 Wars stimulate the economy long term? I'd like to see the evidence of that. Even Eisenhower pointed out that war means that schools and hospitals don't get built. The larger point? If we have had Presidents who didn't get talked into war, then it is entirely possible that it can happen again, if you elect someone who isn't hawkish. Yes, people might point to Obama and his 2002 speech, but once he got to Congress, he voted exactly the same as Hillary on every question of war and peace. Maybe look at someone with a track record of opposing wars except as a last resort, and you will find someone who will stop the war President streak at six.
