@cejannuzi So, she takes a cowardly vote because she doesn't want to be slandered? Where is the author of the next Profiles in Courage?

Just out of curiosity, she had so, so many marks against her even before this. Why just now? Why wasn't she on that list months ago when she got into the race playing both siderism on the shutdown or when she defended Biden on busing?

@derekwheeler4299 So, I take it that you would have opposed boycotts in Rhodesia and South Africa, as well as opposing the boycotts in Alabama. No regime change against Bull Connor!
11
@stumpe9662 Bernie did support busing. He just felt that ultimately we need to deal with housing discrimination as the solution. Not the same thing at all. And what is Bernie's stance that makes him so bad on foreign policy? Getting the Iraq War right?
7
@Justin Time And how is a regime that has courted the most racist elements to stay in power different in this context than the right here?
4
@Jessica_Roth She opposed the Iran nuclear deal. Also, I am no fan of the apartheid label, either, but I am a fan of the First Amendment, and this bill clearly violates it.
4
@Forestien I don't know. That litmus test leaves people thinking that a pro-torture, pro-massacring protesters, pro-Putin, pro-Modi, pro-Adeslon Congresswoman who is Ron Paul in a dress on foreign policy as a sterling example of left-wing credentials.
4
@cejannuzi And that rebuts my argument that she voted out of cowardice how?
3
@derekwheeler4299 Well, governments used all three against South Africa and Rhodesia. If used properly, sanctions can be effective in stoppingbad actors.
2
@Justin Time You said they were different, and you still can't explain how they are different in this context. I gave some examples to argue why they are similar enough for this example to work. If you can't provide evidence, maybe you just don't have any.
2
@Justin Time That isn't an example. I'm talking about specific policies where the left and right are vastly different in those two countries. You could also point to that for Europe, but at least people actually give an example of differences between the two.
2
@Justin Time Where is the policy example? They have different geography isn't an example, it is an explanation with no evidence as to how it affects their politics.
2
@Justin Time Well, left parties were an option until 2001. The option for most of that time, and the only one for the first 30 years or so when Israel was arguably in greater danger. That still doesn't justify a race baiter who appeals to the worst in society. And, yes, I get that this means hoping for a center right government, but at least that group is not trying to antagonize racial minorities and immigrants.
2
@kensuke0 It is about making it harder for others to do a boycott. Not remotely the same thing. I am not a fan of BDS, but I am an even bigger opponent of throwing the weight of the government against those who go that route.
2
@Justin Time I specifically asked what makes it different? Both Likud and Trump are courting the most racist elements of their respective countries to maintain power. What is Likud doing that means that they have no comparison to the American right wing?
1
@Justin Time If you will notice, I specifically said that I oppose BDS, but what I oppose even more is an effort to have a chilling effect on free speech and trying to advocate policies. And the Likud government (or at least what is left of it, no pun intended, after Netanyahu was unable to form a coalition) has appealed to the worst in people. Being in a constant state of strife does not justify dehumanizing people the way they have. It does not make it acceptable to continue to build settlements against international law. And it certainly doesn't justify American politicians saying that people can't make an economic protest against actions they disagree with it.
1
@Justin Time I aware of the coalition system. I am also aware that there are several parties that just a few election cycles no leading party would such with a ten-foot pole, but now the Likud government embraces.

@cejannuzi Only Tulsi explains how she pays for health care? Do you get paid by the lie? Bernie has explicitly said many times how he would pay for it: add a 7% employer payroll tax and a 4% employee payroll tax. Even if you reduce the DOD budget to zero, that wouldn't be enough to pay for Medicare for All.
1
@cejannuzi Yes, she is so brave. That is why she, instead of admitting that at one point supported torture, insists that her going on about it for a minute and a half invoking the 24 scenario.was all just one big misunderstanding. Well, when POWs came to my base, and I was the sergeant in charge, I treated them humanely. Anyone who thinks torture is acceptable insults those of us who did the right thing.
