@TheJaiNetwork Okay, let's follow your logic. Let's say that Bernie runs as an Independent just to "teach them a lesson." He would have had to win 270 electoral votes. Given that Trump's support is locked in, what states would Bernie actually win to get to 270? If he doesn't, the best he could hope for is that no one else does, and it goes to the House... where it gets decided by Democrats and Republicans. Great plan! Bernie is an actual adult.

@carlive9532 Your wording is misleading. Yes, Republican proposals still include progressive income taxes, but Biden specifically wants to raise the top bracket and he wants to donut hole the Social Security tax, bringing it back in at $400K while slowly closing it as the cap increases. I personally think that the donut hole is a stupid concession to this weird notion that being in the 98th percentile is "middle class," but it's better than nothing. The one proposal Biden had that I was truly excited to see that would actually address wealth inequality is getting rid of the unrealized capital gains on estates. (Basically, Bill Gates could die tomorrow and his kids could cash out their Microsoft stock tax free forever. Biden's proposal would have them pay the tax based on the original price.) He probably doesn't emphasize it because everyone is still spooked after Mondale in 1984. Doesn't mean that the proposals aren't there, though.

If Trump wins, I know we'll get nothing. If Biden wins, we might get something. Not a lot, but something is better than nothing.
