@Rick_Riff At this point, I have to wonder if you want Trump and are pretending to like Bernie. First, the superdelegates thing. If a candidate gets a majority of pledged delegates superdelegates don't come into play at all. Most of these candidates are background noise, because if you don't get 15% of the vote in a state or Congressional district, those votes disappear. Second, it takes 270 electoral votes to win. Not the most, 270. If no one gets 270, the vote goes to the House... where it will be decided by Democrats and Republicans. Do you really think that they will vote for Bernie if he runs as a third-party candidate? And he will be a pariah in the Senate and not get anything done.

@Rick_Riff Pretty much every poll has only shown three candidates getting above 15%. If Bernie or Warren win Iowa, they are almost certain to win New Hampshire as well. Bernie has consistently led or within the margin of error in Nevada. No candidate who has ever won Iowa and New Hampshire has lost the nomination. If Biden isn't viable in Iowa, where people have to stay there for two hours and actively support their candidate, then he isn't winning South Carolina.

@bluesrockfan36 Name one? I'll do better than that. I'll name six: TANF, SNAP, WIC, LIHEAP, daycare subsidies, housing subsidies. You mean a UBI that not everyone gets? And any consumption tax is regressive by definition. Saying it isn't doesn't make it so.

And his opposition to Medicare for All means that management still gets to use insurance as a bargaining chip. It is always the biggest fight, and they take it away when there is a strike. @bluesrockfan36 TANF in New Hampshire is over $1000. TANF and SNAP combined is over $1000 in Alaska, New York, and California (and people who get TANF in Alaska still get the Petroleum Reserve Fund): https://fas.org/sgp/misc/RL32760.pdf And it is a precondition, because you have to give those up. Yang has a list of 125 programs that people have to forfeit if they take his money, but he refuses to list more than six. Since he says "cash or cash-equivalent," maybe it includes a lot of other things that are worth a lot of money. Maybe the EITC. Or Pell Grants. Or the Federal Student Loan Forgiveness Program. We don't know because he won't tell us.

@bluesrockfan36 Bernie adds to Medicare. Yang subtracts from existing programs. The 94% figure is false. It assumes that everyone gets the full thousand. And unless Yang has flip-flopped AGAIN, he has specifically said that housing and daycare subsidies are either/or. You don't get to $600B in cost savings unless you are going after pretty much every needs-based program out there. How is it regressive, aside from the fact that not everyone gets it? (And before you repeat the nonsense of how much better it is, the amount is already lower than the poverty level to the point that Yang has to pretend that the extended family is back or that living with your buddies is an attractive option for anyone other than poor college students.) Well, he says "every Amazon purchase." This means that he isn't talking about luxury items, but perhaps exempting some staples, although Amazon does sell groceries, so even that is iffy. @bluesrockfan36 Okay, now I know that you are either a dishonest actor or just don't know basic things. "Government ran monopolies" are actually the norm in the rest of the developed world. Canada does at that way, and the UK goes even farther. The countries that do have private insurance are very heavily regulated. No, what makes you a libertarian is supporting right-wing positions while trying to cloak them in left-sounding talking points. The tactic is something they call political cross dressing. The reason why the minimum wage exists is because overtime laws were put in place in order to encourage more hires. TANF is one of the few things that Yang will actually admit does not stack. States determine the level, but it is clearly something people will have to give up, and you sure did change your tune once I actually pointed out how much it pays out in some states that disproved your talking point that nobody gets more. At this point, I don't know whether you are a dishonest actor or just don't know basic things.

Things like these are what happen when you work backward. And unless he has flip-flopped again, Yang is opposed to increasing the minimum wage. He has explicitly said that he thinks the freedom with 125 strings attached dividend is better.

@bluesrockfan36 I have looked up his policies, and I have found nowhere that he gives a full list of the programs that people have to forfeit if they take his money. He has said the list is 125, but he has only named a few, so no one knows how many people get affected.

@bluesrockfan36 So, the poverty level for one person is higher, Yang doesn't want people to get any more benefits, it is much higher than that for single parents, and he will not give any more for children, and he was insistent to Ben Shapiro that he won't expand the benefit, and it will eliminate poverty completely? Yeah, sure. And there have actually been studies about different versions of UBI. Ones that are below the poverty level (the study defined it as €1100 for every man, woman, and child, so about $1200) and eliminates other anti-poverty programs. The end result? @bluesrockfan36 Wrong. Bernie adds. If you get Medicare now, if you aren't still working and getting more than $29,000 in earned income, you pay no more in taxes. In terms of coverage, you no longer have Medicare Part B deductibles, and now vision, hearing aids, dental, and mental health are covered with no payment at the point of service. Therefore, you get more. Maybe saying that I need to do my research is projection on your part.

@bluesrockfan36 I used to be on SNAP and LIHEAP, and I am a caseworker now. I actually know where the money comes from, so I don't say things that are false to try to pump up my candidate of choice. You are doing those people a disservice if you think they get both TANF and the freedom with 125 strings attached dividend.
