  1. Whatever they decide to do to New York, the 4000-pound gorilla in the room is the fact that such jails exist. They're overpopulated with people waiting years and years just to have their cases tried because our government won't supply enough funding to provide adequate judicial proceedings. We here in the U.S. are no better than Apartheid South Africa or Miramar. And with another hellish group of Republicans in charge, it will only grow worse. I'm ashamed of my country!
