Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Insaan's only crime was that he was born Sikh from Rajasthan who became Guru of a Dera in Sikh majority Punjab which helped him attract poor and lower middle class Sikhs as his followers. Jesus was also crucified for taking away Jews from the old religion to his own path. Religious competition is nothing new. Sikh people may take offence to someone calling themselves as Guru but it is not going to stop growth of new Gurus because common people are always searching for new and different types of spiritual guidance.
