Then I would just sit at home enjoying all the facilities government gave me.

@xtinxn That is because taking free stuff from the government is seen as a bad thing in their societies.

@xtinxn You need to gain more experience of those societies then.

@xtinxn Free and universal healthcare, education and pension facility is available for all citizens of India on paper since 1950.

@xtinxn Education of SC/ST is practically and completely free in India. They don't have to pay any tuition in any government school and university including the IITs, IIMs, AIIMS etc

@xtinxn In IIT in UG courses, the average tuition fees for a General Category student is in Lakhs now while it is zero for SC/ST. There are special libraries for SC/ST funded by Govt of India which provide double the amount of books for more amount of time to SC/ST students for the same course which enables them to save almost all money on books. They can of course borrow from the regular library as well.

@xtinxn There is no need based scholarship available in India right now for General Category students. Government is spending all money on SC/ST/OBC and people from those categories are actually gaining lot of benefit.

@xtinxn About healthcare, treatment facilities in AIIMS, PGIs and other government funded hospitals have improved a lot but even middle class finds it tough to access it due to requirement of recommendation from someone in the system to avail the facilities. If you manage to get admitted without recommendation then quality of treatment is not guaranteed.

@xtinxn Your perception of India being behind those countries is the problem. There is absolutely no shortage of anything in India. We just need to look at India as a unique nation with a unique society and culture. We don't need to play 'catch up' all the time. We need unique solutions suited to our unique nation.
