More is not always better...kids OR money.

@21ruevictorhugo That's true, the concept is sound. I don't claim to have the solution, I only know what's not working....modern capitalism. But I wish you all the best.

@theyoungestday Forgive me, but those sound like the exact words a leftist AI bot would post here.

Ok, but what % of people honestly believe that 100K is the line of diminishing returns? Less than 1%? That's the real point here.
1
@GreedyBeanie You sound greedy.
1
@swissnikk8412 Or you could stop comparing yourself and learn how to use your money more effectively, so that you actually live better than those making the 200k. The more people make, the more they waste.

@21ruevictorhugo Do you feel like having more money would make you happier?
1
@21ruevictorhugo I understand, and can completely relate. I want to say that before anything else. And I'm certainly no communist but I think we should acknowledge that money is an artificial construct that possibly reduced the average happiness of human beings. Obviously, a lack of material provision can reduce one's quality of life, but a system that offers little or no alternative to a game that the majority finds unfulfilling is a broken system IMO. It's a bit like trying to use technology to solve the problems that technology created. A dubious enterprise. Sorry this wasn't fleshed out that well.

@StackworksCustom Well, it's tricky because people blame lack of money for their sadness, rather than look to the root cause. They also believe there's a product to solve every problem.
1
@BoulderBoulder_ No and (definitely) no.

@IAMDIMITRI Bad analogy. Humans have never survived without air but we lived for thousands of years without money. Even if you really ARE after material security, I think that's weak (unless you have a family to support).
1
@twigtwigtwig7 I know this is a personal question, but what type of problems are you referring to?
1
@alexwelts2553 I don't know what to say.

@AI-qd4vb Great comment. As a U.S. native, I see all the things you mentioned quite clearly. It's sad to have an entire society that's sold on money being the solution to all problems and desires. My fear is that the madness is spreading with general insecurity on the rise.

@JGalegria Where did you get your anthro books? Humans were scavenger collectivists for thousands of years before any formalized trading began. Not to mention, trade is a very different thing than using an intermediary note to complete transactions. Think of how personal the transaction was when trading a pelt for a spear, compared with shopping on amazon. And it wasn't like you could store up all the reindeer meat in your hut and control the rest of the tribe. We CHOSE the path of absolute commerce and commodification, and it's largely failed us. By the way, you only read half of my comment.

In this case, there's an obvious GLARING question: why do we always assume that more is better? If I'm happy with 2 kids, having 6 more would really be grand. For obvious reasons, no. But my point is that if you can't be fully happy with 2 or 3 (or even 1), there's really no amount that's going to make you happy. Same thing goes for money, of course. We are led to believe a lie.

@TENTATlVE-xh2nu It sounds good, but then isn't every moment of this life precious?
1
@lilium_lancifolium So you believe owning a car is essential?
1
19:16 I don't think people are interpreting this chart well. Money seems to have VERY LITTLE impact on one's overall happiness.
