@MrHav1k News such as these hurt your feelings or why should they "stop"?

@BigsexyButters The Catholic church is and was always about power, after all they are in some ways the successors of the (holy) Roman empire. They had their hand in politics for a long time and that they would rather embrace fascism than secular movements was no secret (in fact there is even an encyclical on that) has been shown in the 20th century numerous times, it was hardly corruption, it was the way they rolled since ever. Even the 2nd Vatican council didn't change much in that regard.

@wargarurumon Yeah, they just mentioned it 3 times… crazy bastard, how could he become so old?
1
@MrSpemat Yeah, right because the people from Catalonia are brown… :->

@neovannn The Catholic church openly supported fascist leader when they felt threatened by secularism/democracy and the socialist/communist boogeyman, hadthe Catholic-backed fascist goverments in Italy, Austria, etc. stayed longer, they surely would have done similar things (and actually they kind-of did in Ireland).

@FoxBatinaHat To be fair witch hunting wasn't a Catholic speciality, the protestants managed to do it just as well, but the other things that needed more sophisticated organisation were.

@knucklez92 A conspiracy?! Babies are born without a religion so I guess they are part of the conspiracy too?
1
@UrbanZ0mbie The Catholic church was so afraif of the communist/democratic/secularist bogeyman they supported Franco wholeheartedly.
1
@TheEsotericDesi I guess you could count in the Lutheran churches too.
1
@iamcupcakeable So you are claiming that the church didn't knew about this and that it was the act of single individuals even with such astounding numbers and the fact that the Catholic church and the fascist were in bed together? :->
1
@MrHav1k Individual people who abducted children over a time of 40 years? Yeaaah, right… :->

@BigsexyButters Well, a Roman-Catholic is for me someone who believes in the Roman-Catholic teachings, and that includes the pope being the heavenly-inspired successor of Paul who in case of doubt is infallible. And the popes of the past haven't made a secret out of that they don't care much about democracy and freedom of the people if they can retain certain the powers of the church and fight some anti-church boogeyman which is why it supported Franco.
1
@mert828 Widespread in Europe in the 70s?! I don't think so. Not even in the eastern Bloc they would do something like that.
1
@squishyfaceguy The Catholic church supported him, just like the fascist movements in e.g. Austria and Italy.
1
@TheFarmerboyproducti What would be religion without people?
1
@knucklez92 Says the person who called a term denoting absence of belief in religion a religion.
1
@EdgarD8387 Blame Hertz and the Catholic church?
1
@Lukege15 The Catholic church did that in Canada? I thought they were mainly protestant (anglican) there, except in the French parts.
1
@UrbanZ0mbie They supported him before he was even in control of all of Spain. Civil war, remember?
