LOL! Most have lost their Jobs or had not work in a month and just now going back to work. No way are people going to spend like there is no tomorrow, they will now save whatever they can. Which is good advice as a relockdown can happen at any time.

This just shows and it will happen to Singapore ... A mad rush to work but not a mad rush to spend! Retail will have to wait a long time before recovery, as people will only spend on essentials for at least the next year.

Opening up with floating cases is just asking for increase infections. A lock down within the next 3 months is almost certain in Malaysia. So don't keep your hopes up. Its not that the virus is smart, its we who are stupid.

@limlisa LOL! Its an inconvenient true to watch others make a move first ... avoid if its bad, copy and modify if its good. Just plain common sense and it applies to almost everything we do especially if the path is uncertain.

And you were present during 1918? You must be well over 102.

Modern technology unfortunately does not change the stupid part of our minds.

Malaysia should have waited for Singapore to unlock. And let Singapore be the clowns to reopen and learn from whatever mistakes they will make. Now Malaysia wants to be the heroes but will end up to be the clowns. So dumb, Singapore is just waiting for fools to step forward first to test the waters! The virus just won't care it will just reinfect once it gets a chance, and once it gets a foothold you will be speaking like an American or European. Lockdown is just a temporary plaster, remove it and the bleeding will start again.

Looks like CASH is King Now!

@Balangair1 The region will likely be on essentials only mode so long as the virus is still around.

Is there a point in reopening in the first place? Surely from the foot flow around the Sogo mall there is barely enough business to pay for the electricity let alone the rent, salary etc. Can big companies like them survive at business levels like this for long (weeks, months definitely not years). Smaller businesses will be even worse (most of their pockets are not that deep)? Alot of problems not enough solutions.

@nabilahhalimi8745 Sogo would say not from my pocket! We can't afford for you to idle around then. Go Home and Do something in your own time would be their answer.

Just as sure as Day will follow Night and Night will follow Day.

@guguk2007 You can see if the blame is to be put on to the govt, they would rather you stay at home all the time. Because they got their secured salary why should they worry about your problem. Ever thought it this way?

@paulchew6963 Yeah! Just like the song ... Let's go surfin' now Everybody's learning how Come on and get CV19 with me.

@calvinkong2599 Full capacity is when people spend. You can reopen all you like but if there is no customers, people will still lose their jobs and things will spin itself downwards.

@insanbiasa8939 Not wise words, its just facts. The governments will work on their past experience and instincts to create policy some will work some won't as no one has experience a Pandemic of this scale. I think the government truly wants to listen to what you just highlighted raw and to their faces in which I am glad you are showing what is the true status of the population. Govt take advice from experts, but actually the true experts are the people's feedback on what they need ... not some genius who "thinks" what you need.

@malaywomanmsia5142 WoW had to use google translate, forgive me if I don't understand your comment. Business Owners can wish all they want and pressure their employees to squeeze water from stone to feed their families. This is not going to be a pleasant environment as alot of people will be laid off (just because there is no demand). So the only thing logical option would be to conserve whatever you can, because things are so uncertain. Its a false sense of confidence if govt and businesses think things are just going to bounce back almost immediately or even a few months upon unlocking. The economic suppression is not just the effect of the national lockdown but the international lockdown. You won't get full economic operation if you reopen (maybe 50-75% max driven mainly on national demand) but the rest of the world is shutdown. Personal economic suppression ie no money to spend or no jobs to get money. Prospective economic suppression ie everyone will conserve what they have and save what they can ... only on the bare essentials as you said. Govt are making alot of assumptions with plenty words of caution but actually no solutions behind it. I have yet to hear clear leadership statements of a forward looking road map (we have become so risk adverse and expect instant solutions that no one would risk their reputation to even formulate a framework (or scenario planning which takes plenty of hard work to formulate) for the next say two years with CV19 around) from parliamentary broadcast. But we can always live in hope.
