@MakeItMakeSense285 heads SHOULDN'T roll. It was obviously a process failure that hints at a basic lack of testing before rolling out code to billions of devices. It should be taken as a teaching moment. If someone was supposed to test but didn't that still hints at a process failure since that shouldn't be allowed.

Has nothing to do with Windows, CrowdStrike, like every other endpoint security client, needs about the same level of access under Linux, it just takes a bad update to potentially cause a kernel panic, crash or otherwise make it unable to boot. I'm a longtime Linux user, this isn't a moment to gloat. Actually, it almost never is a moment to gloat when users are getting screwed but even less so now when gloating simply exposes your ignorance about what took place.

This wasn't a kernel update, even if it wasn't a simple "signature update" like they claim.

@joemann7971 you're talking out of your behind. The moment you need IT to go over to each device individually in order to fix it you're screwed. You're also assuming every Linux device would be using btrfs when ext4 is still the main fs here.

@khuntasaurus88 in this day and age office is not what holds Linux behind in the corporate desktop. I do agree open office or whatever they're calling it is utter shit. I feel bad for saying that since a lot of effort has been out into it but man, how can they screw up basic text and presentation documents using their very own format?

@kerrydaniels8460 no, libre office isn't fine and the only way anyone can claim that is if they haven't actually use it for anything for a sustained amount of time. The office alternative for Linux is office 365 online and Google docs. Best thing to have happened to Linux productivity suites is the move to the cloud even if they don't have 💯 parity with office Windows yet.
