lee Generalization to put all Ex Muslims in the same bag, especially since most former Muslims I’ve seen dislike Christianity and Judaism.
8
Maybe that has something to do with how they all almost got killed for their beliefs
6
@cyruskhan3462 Because oftentimes Islam doesn’t let them leave. Former Muslims in many situations face the threat of death.
5
@flyinglegion5697 Friendly Ex Muslim: Openly speaks out against terrorist attacks against Muslims and politicians spreading anti Muslim hatred You: “HE IS ATTACKING US”
5
Because in many cases they can’t. Apostates don’t have a great time in Islam, often being criminalized or targeted for violence.
5
@TheCJWerlemanShow I’d argue Islamists are comparable
5
There are plenty of Exvangelicals, Ex Mormons, Ex Hindus. Why can’t there be Ex Muslims?
4
Ah, the classic “they were never religious” claim
4
I agree with the main idea that some ex Muslims advance Neo Colonialism and American exceptionalism, and that is a major problem, but you don’t mention at all why they are drawn to it. Ex Muslims don’t just face “some troubles”, around half of Muslim majority countries have laws that criminalize people for leaving or speaking out against Islam, 8 of which OUTRIGHT KILL YOU. This isn’t even mentioning the cases of societal instances where Ex Muslims are shunned, violently attacked, or have to hide their true beliefs. You are pretty much victim blaming at this point.
4
@flyinglegion5697 How? He’s only ever criticized Islam and fundamentalists, that’s not the same as spreading hatred towards Muslims. On the contrary, he is vocal against figures like Tommy Robinson and President Trump. This is like a “Anti Zionism is Anti Semitism” level argument. If you want real hatred that actually kills people, look at how apostates are treated in Muslim communities and how Islamic apologists and imams openly support such acts.
3
You do, there are many ex Christians
3
There is way more money in being a Muslim than Ex Muslim
2
I never understood that. No Ex Muslim is ever going to make as much as someone like Zakir Naik or Ali Dawah do through donations, TV deals, etc.
2
Killing people for leaving something just adds to the idea that the idea is false.
1
@lilyoyo77 Treason doesn’t mean believing a different thing
1
@alamgirhossain2791 I do too, most of them don’t support anti Muslim hate, and tend to be more left leaning.
1
@Kimeikus “Nobody” except their community, family, possibly government
1
They aren’t hostile to random Muslims, they are hostile to Islamists who threaten their lives
1
@cozakokotano6448 In situations where it is relevant (such as when discussing religion) yes. I hear “I was raised Christian” pretty often.
1
Stop Sunni Hindutva White Supremacist terrorism in New Mexico
1
@serkiznatz The US has the death penalty for terrorists and serial killers, not people who openly identify as another religion.
1
They have, because most Ex Muslims aren’t whites supremacists.
1
@sophiejdalston There are a couple organizations criticizing very real problems in Islamic society and countries
1
@sophiejdalston You mean there aren’t people who left their faith and criticize it? Is that a joke?
1
@sophiejdalston Wow, one figure and a wire tapping that has no sources. Meanwhile there are dozens of cases where ex Muslims are harassed, murdered, jailed, deported, or outright executed by governments or just their community for daring to speak against Islam.
1
Because it showcases they have an understanding of Islam from a place a former member to criticize it
