  2. Pretty sure they carried normally two replacement barrels for rotation. Which allowed for an insane duration of fire for the MG34 and 42. Though on paper every squad might not of been issued spares or as many spares. But I do remember tails of the gun mini series stated it was standard for a German Squad to carry two spare barrels so at least early on if a Squad had a MG34 it is very likely the had 3 total barrels to rotate with. But the elephant in the room is not all squads were issued MG34s or 42s.
