  2.  @URBeingLiedTo  It is economically beneficial. Better support means more children thriving, doing well in education, growing up to be productive members of society. The point of a society is that we all work together, all chip in and support each other to create a stronger whole where we ALL live comfortably. If you're against that, go and live in the woods on your own.

  3.  @URBeingLiedTo  The poor state of this economy is only down to poor choices by our politicians, bankers etc, not by working parents. Supporting each other, rather than cutting people loose, is the best way for us to move forward. I hope you're able to pull yourself from your mire of bigotry to see that.

  13.  @giani1680  We don't have to be. My point is how civil rights are just as vital to a societies health. Remember that the only reason "identity politics" is even a thing is because certain figures need someone to demonise. Self identification of gender would not be a political issue if certain people didn't oppose it and try to legislate against it.

  14.  @giani1680  It's only divisive and controversial because some people can't live and let live. Women can still have their safe spaces and if there's a dialogue to be had in that regard, it'd be a lot easier for the relevant parties to find common ground if we didn't have bigoted morons refusing to accept people for who they are.

  16.  @lewjg2933  That's a dumb argument. You can't just quit and walk into a better paid job. That's not reality. And even assuming it did work that way, what happens when everyone has chosen to get another job, who's doing the jobs they left? Those still need to get done. You also aren't considering rising cost of living. What might have been a living wage even a few months back could easily now be inadequate.
