  3.  @clairee4939  It's not clear at all. You and I can both be "concerned about the laws and institutions" of this country whilst also being on opposing sides of the issue. That makes it a very broad definition and means OP's assertion that Tice would get support from "true UK people" objectively wrong. The latter half of your definition is a comparison against a strawman, simple as. You've just created a hypothetical "other" and made the claim that anyone fitting that bill (who decides?) isn't a "true" Brit. Out of curiosity, do you know who else has used that line of reasoning in the last 100 years? And no, I won't seek to define what I think a "true UK person" is because I think it's a nebulous term.

It's also ironic that you're warning about the state having too much power while defending a prospective representative of the state for wanting to personally involve themselves in criminal prosecution...
