  1. Super-wealth is not stored as gold bars in basements - it is already serving a purpose. If you force the liquidation of assets so that the wealth can be used to finance consumption it is entirely guesswork whether that is good or bad for the community as a whole. Sounding virtuous is not proof of virtue. Persecuting anyone based on guesswork & ideology has a bad track record - ordinary people and people we can persecute is not a valid democratic split.

  2. We're back in Wonderland. Confiscating people's stuff and giving it to others is virtuous and has no downside. We don't even have to make it a democratic universal principle - like everyone surrendering the same proportion of their wealth. Wise rulers will know who to persecute and who to benefit. And the big surprise - immediate consumption is better than saving - who knew?
