I’m Gen X and retired to Wyoming at 40, in 2014. That was a bad idea. Moved to Napa CA for a year 2020/2021. That was awesome, but unsustainable for my retirement pay. Moved to Destin FL 2022. Also a bad idea. This part of FL is weird, creepy, uncomfortable. Now moving to Japan in a couple of months.

Rich Gen X don’t retire there, nobody is that dumb. They have their 3rd or 4th house there to play cowboy for a week every year.

@gregh7457 I will feel more at Home in Japan for sure. I have lived in 5 other Countries before, all great experiences. If I would’ve been in Miami, Orlando, Tampa, maybe the Florida experience would’ve been a lot better. Always have a great time when I go spend weekends there. But the Panhandle? Holy smokes. Did not expect it to still be living in Jim Crow era. And I’m Portuguese/Spanish, the original colonizers of this area and the State, but wow, it’s Ike the folks here live in another multiverse.

@MountainGirlwIPA Not planning on buying a house in Japan. Didn’t mention that at all in the posts. But definitely selling my brand new built house in the Panhandle, lol. Have a couple of rental properties in Puerto Rico and Philippines that I can always go to in between.
