Not really. The cages don't seem to have a consistent height, and the NLAW is triggered by sensors. Putting a cage won't do anything, the detonation sequence will go off at the right moment. Plus, the missile can detonate above the hull instead of the turret, or actually fly under the cage depending on actual height. Some test videos show it going overhead by only half a meter rather than a meter. It makes more sense as protection against hand or drone thrown grenades.

If you add more armor the engine needs to be larger, the fuel runs out sooner, becomes harder to transport into theater, gets stuck easier.

Yes, I have also seen the propaganda photos of spent tubes being portrayed as captured systems.

Since they don't have to run an operating system you can squeeze a ton of performance from older chips.

They can fire back, but the missile team should have moved. It's fire and forget for a reason.

False. There's confirmed satellite photos of missiles fired from the North where the tail ended up West of the cluster impact. The orientation of the tail cannot be used to determine direction of fire.

Sseth is a legit immunologist and he reviews games on youtube. Wouldn't be surprised.

The NLAW simplifies the firing process but it's limited due to these "simpliclfications". The Javelin does more and uses more complex tracking to do it.

@nicolashippolitomota9493 Yes. 2km range moving or static vs 400 meter range against moving targets. Can lock onto people if needed. Can be used in direct mode versus helicopters while an unguided NLAW hit is possible but very difficult.

@jrd33 Hard kill APS uses a radar so even unguided munitions like the RPG can get hit.

Even if you saw the smoke puff from the moment of fire, the missile only gives you a second until it hits. Assuming half a second reaction time from the tank commander, the driver has to react, and tanks can't stop or accelerate in time. The more mass you have, the more difficult it gets to be erratic.

@rick-be Basically, you never know when you're being targeted. You'd be acting like a maniac 99% of the time hitting the brakes, for the shooter to actually notice and wait for you to accelerate again and shoot before you brake.

Because most of those, except the Jav, hit from the size. The NLAW is meant to be used in overfly mode so it hits the thin armor on top.

@bagochips834 That's nonsense. If anything, the reloadable design would make more money because eventually the users would have to buy new launchers as they wore out.
