  4.  @igor_pavlovich  I'm just pointing out that you're talking about a country that literally will not stop if you let them. It's not about the fishing, it's about how much they will abuse you if you do not counter their actions. We don't need to go to war. We need to be able to go war to remind them that they shouldn't try anything funny. Nobody wants to die. I also don't want my country to lay down its arms and just let other nations just walk up to the government buildings and say "I guess we're in charge now since you literally got invaded and aren't even reacting to it". You have to set lines in the sand and make it clear that there are consequences for those who cross it. That is the basis of nation states enforcing their own existence.

  11. The F-35 is cheaper than most 4.5 Gen fighters out there, and it's a much better aircraft. MANPADS have such short range that stealth is impossible.

  12. There's a ton of second and third order effects you're not considering. The Air Force has no business commanding pilots in carrier ops, considering that they don't have the experience to run carrier ops - the Navy does.

  13. The problem is counter-battery fire. If your artillery doesn't significantly outrange the enemy, he'll fire on your position. You need to be ready to shoot and scoot.

  14. Regarding education, they pump out students to Western universities where due to financial reasons the professors don't want to fail Chinese nationals. So they'll happily take Chinese money and in return churn out degrees in baloney.

  15. The enemy gets a vote whether or not you'll be in MANPADS range. Because you may think you're outside MANPADS range, but there could be a guy right below you and ready to take a shot.
