  2. They didn't. They simply lost less. Winter punished the Soviets in Finland. Also, the Soviets aren't Russians. The Soviets had Ukrainians.

  3. The issue is that Ukraine knows a settlement is Russia's ways of recuperating and regenerating a new invasion force to come back a year or two later.

  4. Iraq was not laid to ruins. It was a quick war. Russians in a single city kill more civilians than the US killed in the entirety of Iraq.

  5.  @daminc  150,000 to 200,000 violent deaths - 33% of them from executions after abduction, 14% suicide bombs, 9% car bombs and 5% roadside bombs. The US wasn't doing that. Iraqis were.

  10. Because EU countries can just block the service on their end. In the EU we can't access many American news websites (especially smaller/local news) because they can't be bothered to abide by the EU regulations as they have almost no readers here. Twitter loses more from ending their service in Europe because we have twice the population of the US when combined.

  11.  @victoriassecretisluv  The EU isn't regulating free speech in the USA. Elon Musk is free to shut down twitter in the EU and only have US free speech. But this would cost him money, so he applies the same rules to both. Same as car brands obeying California emissions laws even though they may be lax in other states. I remember something about car manufacturers complaining about that in an open letter to Trump.

  12. No, they paused because lines have stabilized since the last major offensive and Russia got to defensive lines. The Kherson retreat was not like Kharkiv, Ukrainians didn't have to fight for the city. If anything, it's Russia that is losing tons of men at Bakhmut and Ukraine is allowing them to spend manpower instead of advancing.
