  7.  @sburns2421  Mexico doesn't have any reason to do that. Also, Canada signed a military cooperation pact with China in 2013. The US was cool with it.

  8.  @sburns2421  Hypotheticals have to be anchored in logic. Countries next to Russia are afraid of invasion. Mexico isn't afraid of the US invading. In fact they underspend on their military because they enjoy the protection of living next to the US. Before you present a hypothetical, it has to make sense. The US doesn't antagonize Mexico in a military sense, just political differences. So Mexico would be acting irrationally by seeking such a partnership. Additionally, I provided a REAL WORLD example that completely obliterates your hypothetical. So my bases are covered.

The US was willing to keep Yanukovych in power (Victoria Nuland's phonecall is about the opposition agreeing to end the protests in exchange for Yanukovych letting the opposition have the PM seat). Europe was willing to play ball, even bringing Russia into the economic fold with the pipelines. It's not a proxy war. Otherwise every war is a proxy war. You know what lacks credibility? Saying that having allies means you're a proxy. Two countries are going head to head and the actual proxies (the separatist republics) were pretty much wiped out. Now they're staffed with Russian men.
