@JinKee Africa had coups and civil wars through the decades, and countries neighbouring Russia have been hotspots for a while too (the short lived Chechen independent republic in the 90s, Georgia 2008, Ukraine 2014-present). Rather than a pattern, you have exclusion. India and China have large forces and nukes, Europe decided that after WW2 they kind of don't want to get wrecked again, the Americas are shielded by the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Basically the former Soviet bloc, Africa and smaller Asian nations are what remains to have a proper good old fashioned war. Surely the Myanmar civil war doesn't have anything to do with Europe, and it doesn't fit your pattern.

@firstandforemost87 Homes are cheap in poorer countries. People can't afford houses in developed countries because we have this nasty habit of having "zoning laws" and "codes" that prevent stuff from toppling. If we had more poverty and more bombs falling, we could just build more high rises (with tofu dreg quality) that block out the sun and we'd live like in the Kowloon walled city. But because we're not fortunate enough to be poorer and have buildings demolished routinely, we're stuck having to build more low density suburbs outside cities.

@firstandforemost87 Housing could keep up with population if we kept toppling buildings and constructing larger ones. We won't do that because zoning/planing/regulations will always make things remain static on a longer timeline. Which comes with the good and the bad.
