Investigations were made into landing conditions on the south coast of England and current and weather conditions in the Channel.

  2. The Royal Navy carried out amphibious operations throughout its entire existence. The started practising landing in the modern sense using troops and tanks in the mid 1920's in Ceylon away from prying eyes. they developed all the landing vessels and were building them in the mid 1930s.
