  1. Yes, There are quite a few churches in Japan.  There are also religious missionaries of all faiths trying to spread their gospel.  Walk around Shinjuku station and you will see them handing out pamphlets.

  3. I don't think Greg was trying to belittle any countries, he was just noting that Japan has a long history and there are some temples that were built almost a thousand years ago that are still standing.
