Thank YOU! - the rice farmers who sacrificed their rice fields - the aunties who cooked the hot soup for the rescuers, and washed the laundry - the people who donated drinks and food - the drivers who worked for free relentlessly, shipping equipment and people around - the company who voluntary brought the 3 giant water pumps - all the farmers and companies who offered their tools and equipment - the Thai Navy divers who risked the lives, there where really essential to prepare everything - the old man who brought his motorcycle, his only valuable possesion, to be used for people - all the cave specialists from UK and Australia - the engineers and geologists from Japan, USA and Thailand - Mr. Ekapol, you are my personal hero! Great great job keeping their spirits up! - and Mr. Narongsak, one of the best crisis managers in the world, with greatest respect

Do not worry dear Muslim people. This will not happen in Singapore. Some might quarrel every day about the smallest nonsense. About this there will be no quarrels: 5 Million people are united to not let these things happen here.

Why do you ask someone in the UK for a report on this? They are not in the EU.

Holding civilians hostage is one of the worst war crimes.

Uncle Chew - I don't know what he did wrong - but he seems to be an orderly man. He does not deserve his bad situation, even if previously he may have done some mistake. It seems he can be a good and reliable hawker. Hopefully government gives him a chance and pays for his medical fees (or most of it), so he can get a clean start. This was a very good and educational series, CNA. Probably one of most touching and informative you did. Keep up that kind of good work!

I concur! That's Mr. Ekapol. He managed the things inside the cave. He gave all his food to the boys. He taught them to stay calm and how to be resilient. Like a father, or may be better.

No. 1 Pisa, No.1 GDP in Asia, No. 1 for ease of doing business, No. 1 International Baccalaureate Exams, No.1 Everything except people's happiness.

If Mr. Hu had been unwell and was guided outside to recover or for medical treatment, then the other party members had greeted him, looked at him and wished him well. This is how you would treat a former president and friend. Mr. Xi did not look at him even when Mr. Hu directly spoke to him. There is no way they would all be sitting there with stone-faces, if this was the real reason.

Can CNA consider setting time stamps for such longer videos?

If the low paid cleaners, smelly rubbish collectors, the old uncle who cleans your table is not here - Singapore would drown in dirt and pests. If the ambulance driver, the Philippina nurse, or the elderly caretaker was not there - many of us would die alone at home on minor illnesses, because it was impossible for doctors to do their job. If the gardener, the security guard, or the Indian road worker was not there - we all would live in a big slum. Some people are totally overpaid. Some other people have jobs that are paid far lesser than their actual importance. And what is probably worse: We look down on them over our noses.

Kudos to the civilised passengers, the disciplined staff and the fireworkers. You are outstanding!

They (TikTok) needs him exactly for that, displaying he is not from China. Anyway, this is not bigotry. It is an expression of the American geography awareness and knowledge about the world. For many Americans Paris is a country in Europe, and many can not correctly point their finger onto their own capitol city on a map. A Japanese or Singaporean are all Chinese to them, actually anybody with almond shaped eyes.
72
Congratulations to the Thai people! Now - finally - the younger generation gets a much-needed voice. Your first task is to prevent the uncles doing another coup.
69
This decision will make the Thai people even more angry

Singapore is too just to small and vulnerable to play with the health of its people in exchange for some tourist $. Passengers travelling from Hubei province or Hubei citizens should not be allowed entry to Singapore. This should have been the rule already from about 5 days ago Those from Hubei who MUST travel to Singapore should agree to a compulsory heath check, which they have to carry the cost for, and which might include 5 or 6 h waiting time until the result is out. It is 100% in their own interest. For all other travellers the taken measures sound reasonable and appropriate. At the moment.
64
New Zealand is one of the few countries who managed the crisis well. Congratulations, NZ!
61
Thank you Mr.Chinthana! Real heroes do not look like Schwarzenegger, they look like you. Your family must be so proud of you.
55
HDB homes should not cost 1.5 or even 2 Million. Unless the average person earns $ 20,000 / month. Also, Singapore has become too expensive generally.

"We are most of the time listening and giving opinions" and to do this successfully, one needs experience, which Dr. Toh has in abundance. Sharp mind, Dr. Toh!
46
Excellent! Finally, some good news within all the bad news!
46
Drivers missing the lane for unknown reasons, not having proper outlook for a pocket when changing lanes, not signalling their intentions, hitting the curb because of handphone usage, knocking down bicyclists, ect. ect.. Am I the only one who thinks there is something wrong?
43
If they had been prepared, they would have prepared for an increased number of infections, and better even: gradually lifted the measures to manage numbers. As what Singapore and other countries did.
43
Is that why many muslim counties are not in a good state?
42
When the cure is doing more damage than the sickness ... Good luck, Bejing!
42
Japan, Thailand and Singapore are on the verge of an exponential increase.
40
Good Luck, Sir! Alle the best from Singapore!

I watched the actual cam footage. I have a different opinion to this. This is only secondarily a speeding issue. It is primarily a behaviour issue. We do not drive like this on public roads, we do not hit cars and then drive away, or drive through a red light frontally into the other traffic. The speed has made it worse, however the issue here is the attitude displayed on a public road. This person - whoever it is - is a driver who is too immature for permitting him to drive a car, and who should not let onto the road for many many years, except on foot.
36
The table shown here shows very clearly how the things are related and why bigger gatherings should be suspended.
36
This seems very unlikely. The cargo of one mega-ship requires 3800 trucks or 50 freight trains to replace it for carrying the same load. Certainly lesser if it is a regular, smaller vessel. But even at 1/3 of the capacity, it would still require in excess of 1000 trucks. If 50 of such smaller vessels would be unloaded every day, the trucks would form a Q of 700 km. Even if only a few cargo ships were cleared per day, the 90 km stretch of road would become a parking lot for cargo trucks. One disturbance on either end would result in something like a cardiac arrest. I suspect they were proposed this by China, and China wants to build it. Is it?

I am glad we have clean and safe water on the twist of the tap. This is not a certainty everywhere in Asia. I have no objection to pay a fair price for it.
35
This is a hard job, still I have been almost always treated with respect, when I had an encounter with any of the officers. Thank you!
35
He is saying dressed in kind words, that it actually is the behaviour of the people to blame for spreading in most of the cases. I concur. It occurs you can say and say and say, there are always still so many who are unable to comprehend.
33
I want to have one. Need to drive my mother-in-law safely.
33
I concur. Extremism has no space here, whatever colour or shade. Peace is what is the most important building block for all our future. I appreciate there was much effort spent to explain why this person has been refused entry.
31
There is not anything to add. Mrs. Ho should have advised her accordingly. Sometimes people get fines and punishments for every little flyshit. This guy messes up his own family and creates problems to his neighbours, his wife and his children, and even worse: for their future ... yet there are barely any consequences. No father is better than this father.
31
Here we have people who did not see their own kids in JB for months, and import cases from UK, one of the worst affected countries in the world.
29
Where are all the CCP supporters now? Probably they understand now that they are born on the sunny side of life, here in Singapore.
29
And especially take your 4 years old boy out from the stroller. He can walk. That is far better for experiencing the world and improve senses than all these classes.
28
This is a big mistake. Everyone who thinks that this rail line would be useless should try the HSR in China. Good leg room, comfortable seats even in economy class, no hassle on-board service, no need to come 2 h before boarding, and up to about 500 km actually faster than the plane.
28
Willing, but not Sinovac.
28
@Caocao8888 Just to say, I am not American, I lived in China, and now live a long time in Singapore. In Asia elderly are treated with more respect than to be seen here.
27
Ask the government to close schools for children, but then bring them on a cruise in this pandemic situation. Explain parents, please.
26
It all depends now on the people and their behaviour, if things can be made easier from mid of June onwards. +++ Restrict yourself now to enjoy more freedom later! +++ 1. Travel bubble with countries only which have a proven good track record in managing the crisis, and the number of new infections is low. This means R0 consistently below 1!! No producing these decisions on basis of economical considerations. 2. To consider bilateral agreements about health care for patients. 3. Setting up a committee of all participating travel bubble countries to co-ordinate efforts and strategies.
25
Since I live in Singapore I asked myself why these islands are not used, for tourism and culture for example? Tropical islands with wonderful beaches, and city-life just a hop over to the mainland, where would you get that? But ... rubber floats and putting up containers, and then call this ecotourism?
24
How happy is Ms. Pongkwan? Super-happy! I wish all the best for the people in Thailand. Change must come now, I hope that Mr. Prayut does not stand in it's way.
24
The no. 1 hobby for the common Singaporean: Find a way how to flout the rules.
24
The kids might have tried to stand up or move. Very, very brave woman!
23
What do you mean? I found Sarawak being very liberal, meaning everyone is treated with kindness, regardless who you are. No obvious leaning to any side. And I enjoyed that a lot. All the smiles I got, the nice conversations ... I will go back.
23
No room for extremists!
23
Chuan Chuan divorced from Sky Quek. According to the daughter the family is doing better now, though the mum is worried about trauma left in the kids by their violent father. What they would really need is a decent man as a family father, someone who would be a role model to them.
