@dominiclee5786 I am more concerned about the general attitude. If a Police force has to appear in front of people like heavy armed soldiers, then to me there is something wrong. Secondly. I watched the (good!) CNA docs about the high security imprisonment. That sort of removing all kind of personal freedoms down to the smallest detail, this is sure to cause aggression, IMO.

@veril394 I fully understand the reasoning why a 6 : 1 ratio is needed. It is absolutely not tolerable to let things just run, as what we see for example from US prisons with inmates revolting and taking over the entire block. However, I believe some aggression is rooted in over-control and not leaving any personal freedom. We humans are not like this, we can not be like ants. The CNA documentation showed that for most inmates the family is still by far the core of their life, and that what fills their heart. To cut that tie off or restrict it that much has to lead to aggression. 3 months well behavior just to hang 1 photo of the kids ... shouldn't it be the other way around? I.e. they can hang up 3 photos, and one after the other will be removed for ill behavior? What do the experts here say? However, the relatively low re-offender rate gives Singapore right.
