Who told you they will make it cheaper? The intention is to stabilize the current high levels. A Honda 150 cc ADV scooter 10,000 on COE, yep, makes sense.

I calculated it myself. For the cost of car ownership I can do a lot of taxi trips, I do not need to be an expert to detect this. However, it is not only about the money. The money is one of several decision factors only. - If I need a transport most urgently, often I don't get one in time, or pay extra. Peak hours or rain, someone? - Squeezing in a crowded bus vs. sitting in a comfortable car, which one? - If I drive my car with 2 or 3 people (I use a motorscooter if I go alone), then the bottom line may look very different compared to public transport. - Fare structure of Taxi's is higher mathematics, with numerous extra fees here and fees there.

Who told you they want to bring the prices down?

@angxiang3186 Look at the massive extension of MRT until 2035. Government does not want the ordinary people to go with private cars. Only for the rich. They do not want the prices to go down again.

@angxiang3186 I am not sure about that. However, to me there is a huge difference in between making harder for people owning a car, or planning to cancel pretty much all private traffic (except for the filthy rich).

@angxiang3186 To my opinion owning more than 1 car per household should be extra taxed, and owning more than 1 car for per person should cost like 1/2 a million extra. I do not understand why Singapore does not support: - small eco-friendly vehicles such as the Citroen Ami - families with 2 and more young children to own a basic car - families with at least one elderly in the household with a basic car - two wheelers up to lets say 250 cc - e-bike friendly environment same as in the most cities in the Netherlands, Denmark, or at least the German standard. There is no need for anyone to own a car that can make 360 kph, or a 2.5 ton SUV, or 3 person families to own mini-buses. These also should be highly taxed. Vans such as the Toyota Alphard etc. should require a bus driving license.

@angxiang3186 I will never drive with public transport, or taxi, unless circumstances force me to. My car is 23 years old and I will keep it on the road for as long as I can. After that, I still have a scooter. And if this will also be restricted, I will rather use a bicycle.

@angxiang3186 It can be repaired by any locksmith, since it has almost no weird electronics. Have a good day!
