  1. Germany's approach was diplomacy and good-will. That should always be the course taken. If in the end the other involved party throws all good-will against the wall, ignores diplomacy and chooses war, you can not blame Germany.

  2.  @wolferup  In the last century Germany has started 2 wars against Russia. Therefore, it is a highly sensitive issue. We don't want that ever again. Germany won't send weapons to the Ukraine, that later may fall into Russia's hands. If the anglosaxon world can't understand this, so be it. We all should blame the idiot who started this, and the big red nation who supported this idiot.
