Based on the discussion between No.4 and 1917 - It sounds like they got the crap 1917's as much as we have crap SMLE's here.

Wait what... did Ian have more to say about Swiss rifles being fired in anger? Or was that the whole thing?

Schritter = Meters = Yards 300 = 225 = 246 For everyone else searching for the answer.

@Soff1859 Well, I can see why. I just wonder if there was something less crazy and more WW2/Cold war-ish.

@GunFunZS I love outdated measurements, Arshin I think is 28" approximately. Closer to a genuine stride than the Yard or Meter. Just double checked, and yes it's 28" per Arshin.

@GunFunZS I bring up the accuracy of Arshin vs. Yards, because I used to handle insurance claims over the phone. We'd have people count out steps a whole lot. If you're not exaggerating the steps, you're a whole lot closer to Arshin than Yards (or meters, which are 3.3 yards roughly). Grains are what they are. I don't think they're inferior to milligrams. They're just unique. All of that said, if you're indulging in illegal (or legal depending on the state) substances, you'll learn grams pretty quickly.

@GunFunZS Measuring systems are just that. Systems. They all have benefits and weaknesses. I will conceded many many advantages to Metric, save one. Temp, Sorry C isn't SUPER superior to F. Decimalized imperial is actually pretty darned good for what it is.

The question with the French vs. Swiss, probably should have been FAL vs. STGW. That's a more fair comparison.
