Minor Correction: JMB made many of the finest mechanical creations. He also made many cartridges. He basically made everything.

@chipsterb4946 The thing about JMB is his areas of influence. Most firearm designers got one area on lock down, and maybe explore another area. Mauser = Bolt action rifles, and pistols. It's not like they didn't try to move into other areas. Maxim - MGs. Furrer - Toggle Locks. You could limit JMB to just cartridges, or lever action rifles, or falling blocks, shotguns, or MGs, or pistols... and ANY of those categories would make him a very notable designer. He did it all. There's a reason that pocket pistols in Europe were commonly referred to as "Browning" - he was Glock before Glock was Glocking horses for fun times.
