@nonyabisness6306 Swedish here, yes heating your house while you go to work is very common otherwise you'll freeze your ballz off when you get back home. I know plenty of people that have their heating on 24/7.

yeah haha I was thinking about my home-country with winters always colder than -20 sometimes up to -30 with no heating... ouch xD.

Nah I'd rather governments went for the energy sources that are reliable, effective and cheap, anyone who still wants to "make a difference" and go green has the opportunity to do so but have to be ready to pay more because wind and solar are very unreliable, ineffective and expensive compared to other ways of generating electricity.

@arnejungclaus7957 That's all fine and good in rainbow land with colourful unicorns running around but in the real world if it's between freezing to death or nuclear power then that is a very easy choice, isn't it? It would be great if Solar and Wind was feasible to meet our basic needs, but they ain't. Speaking of taxpayers picking up the bill Solar and Wind are reliant on taxpayer to be viable, if you look at the cost versus the electricity produced it's an incredibly expensive method of generating electricity and it's reliant on government subsidies.

Honestly they should scrap the EU green energy policies for now.

@Cam-sl8ve Why would Germany waste time and money on solar or wind, 70% of France's electricity is nuclear and Germany has a shit ton of coal they can burn. Nuclear and Coal is what Germany are going to use. Solar and wind is not as effective and very inconsistent, a day with no sun or wind and production drops massively. Nuclear and Coal you can regulate up and down dependent on your needs. Obviously Nuclear will take time but Coal they have plenty of and I would not be surprised if they ditched the Paris accords to survive the winter.

@anthonydyer3939 Germany has already announced they will open up nuclear power plants and they got a shit ton of Coal to burn if they need to during winter. Solar and Wind is not very reliable or effective with today's technology.

From a fellow Swede, not all European countries are as well off as Sweden and Sweden has almost 3x higher electricity use per capita than countries like Italy or Spain. Gas is a cheaper way to get heating and electricity. So it's not because we're smarter it's just we waste a lot more energy than our European counterparts and are willing to pay extra for the convenience of other energy sources over gas. In Sweden many people keep the heating on while they go to work so they can get home to a warm home in winter, in other European countries a lot of people doesn't even turn the heating on even during the winter.

Because when it's -25 outside and you don't have heating you freeze to death. Are you willing to freeze to death while your leaders use jets to go everywhere and spew bullshit about green policies? No thank you.

@kevinb5621 Yes of course, it's never cold inside in Scandinavia. Even if it's -30 people will walk around their house with t-shirts.

@paul1979uk2000 Yes Europeans will complain and pay the higher price we're fine we will just b1tch a bit, the third world people will die from higher prices.
