i think its because rabbits or hares are rare in vietnam and only live in the annamite range, but in china, there are hares common in nature, whereas cats, there are many different species of wild cats in vietnam and other countries in indochina peninsula

@courtly5982 what are you talking about? the video shows vietnam has lunar new year that is called Tết, but the zodiac has slightly changed in vietnam, such as cat instead of rabbit/hare and water buffalo instead of ox/cow. this is because rabbits/hares and oxen/cattle are not native to vietnam so they were switched for more common native animals there, whereas all the other animals in the zodiac are still there because they are either common enough in vietnam or widely known enough

vietnam in many many centuries ago over a thousand years already was also part of china so it makes sense that vietnam would have gotten practices from china, but of course vietnam has also had many many centuries and millennia of being split from china. it wasnt copied unlike japan did. vietnam inherited their old chinese practices and made it their own

nah, they dont see much rabbit at all. rabbits or hares in vietnam are rare and only occur in the annamite mountain range but everywhere else in vietnam, there's no native rabbits besides modern domestically sold ones

@BackwardRabbit they sure do with the amount of dragon statues and paintings there fueled by the mythical legends part of their society that mustve started out with seeing dinosaur bones before modern times

lol lunar new year in my country is an official regular public holiday and the date is based on the lunar calendar...

@Chinese1492 its because dragons have special mythical legendary status throughout far eastern asian countries. dragons, as you know, dont exist in real life, but the mythical legendary beast was thought up in many human cultures, probably from seeing dinosaur bones before modern times, thats why dragons are imagined with different designs and even different number of claws because people of old before imagined what the dinosaur bones looked like when they were alive despite never having seen them alive before

@Chinese1492 hey maybe dinosaur bones have medicinal supernatural dragonborn properties hahaha but no touching the museums hahahaha

@Chinese1492 meanwhile in europe, they put the cool animals they saw onto their shields and rich family symbols, like lions even tho theres no more lions in europe

@ucchau173 in Malay, "kucing Belanda" is also the word for "rabbit", but the literal words mean "Dutch Cat".

@jannamebaotocuaruneterra6211 Annamite range is a place. It is a group of mountains in vietnam. If you are from vietnam, im not sure why u do not know this. perhaps, u do not recognize the english name for the place?
