  1. I think that many Americans do have the idea that our being American will protect us wherever we are. It's not true, of course. However, this professor phrased this in a truly insensitive way considering the situation.

  2. I don't think this is a place where academic freedom is the issue. This isn't about what she's teaching in classes, this is about comments she made extracurricularly.
