I've begun to realize that this is all distraction. so many are so focused on these SJWs who, in the grand scheme of things aren't that important that they are ignoring actual suppression of free speech by the government.

adam rassat Either you are really ignorant of our constitution or you're a troll. Freedom of speech is COMPLETELY about government involvement. Read the First Amendment. You have no freedom from people calling you names. If all you Milo people are this dumb no wonder you're all such hypocrites. Dave needs to see what he's fostering here.

adam rassat You have to be stupid not to know what Freedom of Speech is. It's not that you get to say whatever you want and everyone else has to shut up. It's also not that people can't call you names. Read the First Amendment it's about the GOVERNMENT stifling speech, not citizens. I can't believe you don't know this.

adam rassat Great shifting the goal posts (actually, really clumsy shifting the goal posts), but you still have not acknowledged that freedom of speech is about government involvement. I realize that you don't know what you're talking about and are just completely ignorant of what the first amendment is but until you can acknowledge that I'm not going to engage with you because I'm not the jackass whisperer.

***** I'm one of those people who wouldn't have known anything about Sarkeesian if it weren't for these anti-feminists. They get upset over these completely obscure feminists and actually give them a much higher profile than they would have normally had.

I find it interesting that you are focusing entirely on the leftist side of this when there is actual government censorship going on with the Trump administration blocking climate change scientists from speaking. You and Milo focus entirely on this limited area and don't acknowledge that there is actual government oppression going on.
1
The Dude The Trump administration silencing climate change scientists from releasing their findings. The Trump administration preventing EPA employees from talking about how the govt. is currently cutting and freezing grants. The Republicans in Senate preventing Elizabeth Warren from speaking. These are just the first three that come to mind, I'm sure if I researched further I could come up with more, but I already mentioned these things. I am going to bet that you won't acknowledge these and will still go on in your selective grasp of reality.

The Dude These have been covered pretty extensively on the news for quite some time and I think that your demanding citations is just a dishonest way of trying to slither around the fact that what I'm saying is true and shows you to be a hypocrite when it comes to free speech but here you go; https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/25/us/politics/some-agencies-told-to-halt-communications-as-trump-administration-moves-in.html?_r=0; https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/02/08/nevertheless-she-persisted-becomes-new-battle-cry-after-mcconnell-silences-elizabeth-warren/?utm_term=.d08a6f1e626d

The Dude And saying that "whoever is in control gets to silence people from telling the truth" just kind of proves my point.
1
The Dude Considering that all these things were pretty widely reported it is dishonest for you to demand citations and the only reason you did it was so you could then shift the goal posts and demand some kind of proof of motive which does not matter. The fact is, the Trump administration is tamping down on scientific research being released and you so-called "freedom of speech" people don't care. He also regularly threatens people who dare to speak out against him which wasn't a big deal when he was a private citizen--but now he has the government behind him so that becomes actual censorship. The truth is, you freak out over these college students but you don't care that there are actual First Amendment violations happening because it doesn't fit your narrative.
1
The Dude The First Amendment speaks ONLY to government violations of free speech--not to student protestors.
1
The Dude My presumption of your motive was right on. If you don't pay attention to the news everything is a surprise. Whether the President is in charge of the EPA or not he is censoring actual speech that the citizenry should be informed of because of his ties to business. Trump's not a boogey man--he actually exists and his administration is censoring people's speech. The fact that you don't condemn actual government censorship but do condemn private citizens speaking out shows that you are not a champion of freedom of speech. You're not, Milo's not, Dave Rubin's not. You are only champions of freedom of speech you agree with. Your ignorance of Trump's tweets where he threatens to sue or ruin people is not proof that he didn't do it, just proof that you are not paying attention.
1
The Dude I will. I also have proof. You, on the other hand, have to twist yourself all up to make it okay.
1
The Dude Wow, so you're late to the party. They took away Elizabeth Warren's right of free speech. They took away climate scientists right of free speech. Now my little snowflake. Shut the fuck up unless you're going to condemn ALL free speech abuses and not just SJWs (who have the right of free speech as well).
1
The Dude All you're proving is that you only care about freedom of speech you agree with. For that matter, these Berkely SJWs didn't take away Milo's freedom of speech. He was able to talk the next day and still has his platform on Breitbart and other media. So, "nigga" you're just a hypocrite.
1
The Dude You can quote yourself all you want. You're a hypocrite. It doesn't matter that "that's the way the government works" if you're going to claim to be a First Amendment defender you have to be against all abuses even if the rules say they're okay. As for "staying on topic" that's exactly what the topic is, you condemn these "SJWs" for doing something that THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO but you defend the government for stifling freedom of speech. You're a hypocrite.
1
The Dude You didn't prove me wrong. That you think you did just shows that, in addition to being a hypocrite you're also delusional.
1
The Dude They used a bullshit loophole that she couldn't speak against a Senator in a hearing in which he was being vetted for a non-senatorial position. That was a dishonest suppression of freedom of speech. That you think it's okay just shows what a hypocrite you are.
1
The Dude At this point you can assume whatever you want. But you can't claim to be a supporter of free speech if the only person's speech you're worried about is Milo.
1
The Dude That's what this subject is about. It's dishonest for you to pretend otherwise.
1
The Dude But so many anti-SJWs are dishonest. They're not really freedom of speech supporters, they don't fight for freedom of speech, just speech they agree with. But if it makes you feel better, why don't you just stop responding to me?
1
bgoodfella7413 What specifically are you referring to? I wouldn't doubt that they would try. Which is why we have to fight all the abuses if we want to say we're free speech champions--not just when it's campus SJWs who are doing it.
1
bgoodfella7413 And just to reiterate, political corrected hasn't limited your free speech, as your idiotic post proves.
1
bgoodfella7413 Political correctness from the right is currently coming from the government. Which is far more dangerous.

Hey Dave, yesterday one of your viewers informed me that "freedom of speech has nothing to do with the government" when talking about Trump silencing scientists or the GOP Senate silencing Elizabeth Warren. I think you are actually doing a disservice to some of your listeners by not explaining what the First Amendment actually says. They actually think freedom of speech abuses are only about college SJWs silencing Milo Yianopolis--which, while annoying is not anti-constitutional or even illegal unless they get violent.
