Moral and courage also matter. The Iraqis in Mosal fled from their defensive positions from a less equipped force that was a third of their size. Russian infantry seem unwilling to engage their enemies and have been relying on artillery instead. It would seem likely that the Russian soldiers would rather flee than hide from artillery or wait for Ukraine soldiers to kick down their doors. We will see.

@A.Martin Ukraine can't afford mass casualties to take one city. Look at what happened to Russian manpower after their offensives against major cities. I believe the Ukrainians are hoping the Russians won't fight which could be a similar miscalculation the Russians made at the beginning of the war. We will see.

@macnicolson5452 The Ukrainians don't want to surrender territory to invading fascists. Why should the EU pressure then into doing that?

@Marcus_C51 I just hope the Ukrainians have a good plan and intelligence, because this could turn out poorly otherwise. Russia use to have an a major troop presence protecting their border from China, but most of those troops got sent to Ukraine. Maybe the drills are a way to improve diplomacy to make up for a weak military defense.

@robmckrill3134 Satellites don't tell you if Russian soldiers are willing to die for Putin's Imperial ambitions. They also don't show if Russian corruption caused poor maintenance or if they sold off the gas for their tanks....again.

@davrosdarlek7058 The Russian artillery game isn't what it is was due to HIMARS destroying their stockpiles before they can get to the frontlines. NASA fire tracking satellite shows the obvious differences. The Russians may actually have to fight with their infantry which hasn't gone well for them so far.
