@flaviusjustinianus It probably has more to do with these scammers not learning how to speak German. English speakers are just a bigger market. It only takes one hack to get your information.

@pronoydutta614 The Indian politicians and law enforcement are taking kickbacks from the scammers, and the public doesn't seem to care when Westerners lose all their retirement money.

@DAC936 Why about job sites or employers that get hacked? What about a new phone number I got that still gets spam calls within a day? This victim blaming is stupid. The Indian government needs to arrest the criminals, or the US needs to block all calls from India.

@Qwerty10254 Not so fast. The Modi government is willing to allow these scammers to operate. The police know where they are located, but bribes to the police allow them to continue to steal from elderly Americans undisturbed.

@josh09614 They buy these phone numbers from hackers on the dark web. If I use my phone number as an identifier for a loyalty program and they get hacked by Russian or Chinese denizens, then my phone number can be bought from these Indian scammers.

@yiyeungwong Both countries have corrupt governments that profit off of criminality. Chinese hackers steal American personal information to sell to English-speaking scammers in India.
