@Camelotsmoon They are paid what the market says they are worth. The smarter and harder workers tend to leave minimum wage jobs for better offers, because they produce more value for the business. Many of the people who goes from one minimum job to the next for twenty years aren't worth the money the companies spend training them. Let's also not pretend like the poor don't get thousands of dollars each in free government benefits, while also getting paid through the tax system instead of paying income taxes.

@vnci9644 One where I worked my way from minimum wage to management, so I'm more familiar with low wage workers than you who view the world through MSNBC.

"Workers" implies they are working. Leeches is more accurate description of those who contribute nothing as feed off of the taxpayers.

It doesn't seem reasonable for you expect small business owners to save enough money to not go out of business in case the government shuts them down month after month. Most corporations do keep more money on hand during economic uncertainty. Many of those who didn't, went into bankruptcy. Instead of pushing for your Communist class struggle, use some common sense.

@ninadiamant8937 I'm sorry. I met to say your 'Marxist' propaganda.

@jeremyc4811 Wierd. I thought the bartender got thousands of dollars in stimulus checks and unemployment checks, and he wasn't even required to look for a new job.

@scwirpeo Unemployment insurance is designed to help you pay bills when you are looking for a new job. It should be used for those times. For unemployment insurance to pay for those not planning to rejoin the work force is equivalent to your government flood insurance paying out to a home without any flood damage.

@scwirpeo The vaccine was out for everyone by the time Biden was sending money to encourage people to sit at home instead of going back to work. The work requirement didn't go back into effect until May 2021.

@Dryblack1 A lot of people quite working when the government payed them to not work, to have children, and allowed them to not pay rent without consequences. They are going to have a rude awakening as these programs unwind.

@Dryblack1 You are the one ignoring the high unemployment numbers, the drop in labor participation, and the thousands upon thousands of unfilled job positions. It's not just stimulus checks. It unemployment for people not looking for work, it's extra child credits, it's rent moratorium, extra food stamp benefits w/o a work requirement, ect. There was several months where the number of people receiving unemployment insurance was higher than the unemployment rate (they only count people looking for work in the unemployment rate).
