How can Warren and AOC have degrees in economics but still seem not to be able to understand the basics?

@matthewshields Property developers only build the complexes to sell them later. If you restrict the already limited number of people who are willing and able to buy large apartment complexes, then builders may be less willing to take the risk of building more housing. While there needs to be restrictions on market dominance to avoid monopolistic behaviors, it is dumb and unnecessary to restrict market participants from financing new projects based on your irrational disdain of people making money.

Who is going to build these homes upward when you are restricting investments in those projects?

@matthewshields They aren't unrelated. Companies will be less willing/able to build more when the government restricts the number of buyers.

@Shubham Mishra Upzoning means forcing neighborhoods to become apartments/condos that have multiple price points. That means have low cost rooms on the first floor to a penthouse on the top floor. This would also prevent concentrated poverty. The poor complain about having to use alternative entrances, but generally agree they are better off than living in the projects. The rich are also unhappy about living next to "those people", but no one cares what those Karens have to say.

Governments don't actually want homes to be affordable. They want to artificially restrict the availability of homes in order to increase the wealth of boomers at the expense of younger, first time buyers.

@ShubhamMishrabro So you are saying socialists politicians understand economics, but they lie about it to serve their agenda?
