For many, it is not about the Confederacy but a representation of the united South and its people. For others, it is a celebration of white supremacy. Unfortunately, it is often difficult to tell the difference without knowing the people personally. Frankly, the Southern boys just need another symbolic like the SEC flag.

Obama made several statements against gay marriage before eventually being a supporter of LGBTQ rights. Does that make him a homophobe? Maybe we shouldn't always be quick to cancel people for opinions they had decades ago?

@Randy-jz9ox True. There is nothing legally stopping you from waving your Nazi and Confederate flags, but that doesn't mean you are protected from the consequences of your racism.

@Randy-jz9ox I would be unsurprised that your boss would fire you and your homeowner association fine you for putting out your favorite Nazi flag. Free speech is not freedom from consequences.
