Depends on your age. I was born in the 90s, so this equipment was paid for by taxpayers before I was born.

It is a risky strategy, but it is smarter than sending a force trained in maneuver warfare into a miles-thick minefield.

@monkemode8128 Most of the equipment sent was already built. Old equipment costs more in maintenance, and some expiring ammunition costs more money to decommission than it does to ship it overseas. Also, the replacement equipment being built increases America's manufacturing base with new skills and technology.

@monkemode8128 I find the people arguing against Ukrainian military spending disingenuous. The people who complain about the Ukrainian lend-lease line items never talk about cutting anything any other part of the $800 billion/year military spending. The obsession with cutting Ukraine aid only is just authoritarian-leaning ideologues being fed with Russian misinformation. If they think military spending should be spent elsewhere, then why just the obsession with Ukraine aid?

 @ethansleepybear Ukrainian have access to train terminals in Russia that tracks all Russian rail movement (the primary method of moving military equipment for Russia).

The Russian bots are trying to make this sound like this was Putin's plan all along. I guess the plan was to turn hundreds of Russians into POWs and have hundreds of thousands of Russians flee their homes.
