@zhoufang996 That type of thinking is lame. Kamikaze attacks were not prolonging the war - Japan's refusal to surrender prolonged the war. Japan was trying to get a negotiated treaty - and - the way they were trying to do it - was by bleeding the Allies. They thought that if they bled the Allies enough - they could keep from being defeated. This was their plan from the beginning of the war. This was what they had ALWAYS planned on doing. They knew they couldn't win before they attacked us - but - they thought that if they bled us enough they could keep some of their gains. They hadn't always planned on using Kamikazis but their use was practical. Anyone attacking the Allies at that stage of the war was probably going to die - so - if you were going to die anyway, as a Kamikazi at least you stood a better chance of getting a hit. You win wars by making the other side quit. The Japanese wanted to make us quit - but we didn't. So - finally - Hirohito decided to end the war and end the suffering of his people. THAT was what had to happen to end the war. .

There's no telling. Promotion paths can be really twisted and confused. .

It's always hard seeing a ship you served on (even for a short period of time) going to the breakers. You remember it as a living city afloat with purpose and commitment. .

@nicholasconder4703 That would have something to do with it during non-war times ... but ... yeah even during a war - it certainly could be a factor. .
