@ottovonbismarck2443 Yes. Ajax was a Greek Warrior at the battle of Troy (according to the movie - killed by Hector though not so in the IIliad) - NOT the Greek God of War - who as mentioned - was Ares. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajax_the_Great .

As to the pronunciation of the word Ajax ... If you look at any of the older languages and their pronunciation - even "Old English" is pronounced nothing like "English" is pronounced today. And - throughout today's languages there are some letters which are just not pronounced the same way in different languages. In German the letter J is mostly pronounced the way the English would use the letter Y - but sometimes as "Ai". In English the letter J is pronounced as "Juh" and in Spanish J is pronounced "Hay". Now - for example - if you were speaking German - you would pronounce Jaeger - "Yaeger" (which is in fact the English spelling used by such as Chuck). So - if you're speaking a language such as German - then it may well be pronounced "Ai-axe" but if you're speaking English - it is more likely to be pronounced "Ay-jacks". I knew a German Girl in college whose name was Maj which she pronounced "Mai". She really hated it when people would read her name - and call her "Majuh". If you are speaking Spanish - and call out to someone named Jesus - you will be saying "Hay-sus" because that is the Spanish pronunciation of the letter J. If you are speaking English and pronounce it "Ai-axe" then - (almost) no one is going to have any idea what you are talking about. .
