Tactics aside - Lawrence's biggest mistake was taking on Shannon in the first place. The RN had lots of Frigates - it didn't really matter if they lost one - if they could damage a Commerce Raider and have them being repaired - as long as they were not out there Commerce Raiding - the RN had won. If they beat the Commerce Raider - so much the better. That is why Brooke was issuing those Challenges. It wasn't important whether or not he won - it was important that he do enough damage to send the Commerce Raider back to port for repairs. The RN had lots of Frigates. What it wanted to prevent - was Commerce Raiders harming it's Shipping. The American Navy did NOT have lots of Frigates so each one it lost was a significant part of it's Navy - and - a significant blow to it's ability to Raid British Commerce. .

@redjive_industries3760 And - which branch of the military did YOU serve in? Or ... Are you one of those non-vets who think they know anything at all about being a Veteran - when they don't? Restricting the Franchise to those who have actually DEMONSTRATED a sense of responsibility to the Nation by serving it - is actually a really good idea. Look at the silly little shits you have running for President in the US now. Of course - it would never work - because to many greedy, silly little shits would resent being told what to do by those who knew something about what they were doing. The last thing a silly little shit is every going to admit - is that they are a silly little shit. It could however hardly be worse than what we have now.
