  83.  @LoyaAfghanistan  What is your definition of "success"? Just being in charge doesn't mean success. I strongly reccomend reading the 2023 Amnesty International report on the state of affairs in Afghanistan. It is bleak! It portrays a detailed overview of conditions within Afghan society under the Taliban. It appears to be anything but successful since they took over. I live in a western democratic country with lots of beaches and I have never seen nude 🏳️‍🌈 people! Ha! Ha 😄 There are designated beaches where it is legal to be nude. Everywhere else it is illegal, so there is no chance of your children being accidentally exposed to nudity. (Be careful not to wear out your 🏳️‍🌈 emoji)! Ha! Ha! 😄 In my opinion, sharia is totally incompatible with open societies. The idea that a women has to be covered head to toe to hide her face and body from the gaze of men is not about modesty; it is about the subjugation and conformation of women. (As is restricting them from secondary education and work-places). The Taliban know that the more a woman becomes educated, the harder it will be to subordinate her. She will realise that there are other options in life to staying at home and being in a perpetual cycle of raising children and being pregnant. Yes, there will always be a small minority that practice sharia behind closed doors, but it would be impossible to strictly adhere to it especially in terms of punishments like cutting off hands for theft and beheading for adultery. Second and third generation children are much more likely to reject sharia than accept it. We see this often with legal action being taken against male relatives who assault and sometimes kill women and girls for refusing to enter arranged marriages or having a relationship with a male outside their religion thereby "dishonouring" them. People do not gravitate towards this type of control over their lives, but rather, push back against it (at least in my country). But, who can predict what any society will be like a hundred years from now? I have worked with many Muslims, and even the most moderate ones who don't fully practice the religion believe one day the whole world will be converted to Islam. Who knows what the future holds? 😉
