@StopGlobalBullshit08 Okay. I disagree, as you prediceted, with your belief that bringing up race only divides us. I think it will reveal negative attitudes in those who will be fine with all races just so long as those races conduct themselves in a matter they find acceptable. If all it takes is for somebody to have to keep hearing about racism to "turn racist", or no longer wish to mix with other races then they are nobody I would wish the approval of...(ctd)...

@StopGlobalBullshit08 Because I find it interesting, as do many others. Why do I find it interesting? Because it is a reflection of where we as a society are in relation to matters of race. How these issues are handled in the media, and how they are responded to is of great significance to many people, myself included. Why do you think this does not matter. And if that is not what you think, what do you think and why?

...not to care, but it's very patronising to assume that you are representative of the whole despite evidence to the contrary. Finally, I keep hearing that "what she wants to say is up to her". Yes, and what we want to say in response is up to us. Neither myself, nor others I'm seeing here, are saying "she should not be allowed to hold or express her opinions", vulgar language aside. What is being said is that "we don't like her opinions". And WE'RE merely expressing that.

@CapitalistOverlord I love irony and satire, but your post was neither so absurd that it appeard ironic (because people frequently debate the meaning and connotations of the word as if we can simply all agree to alter it), nor were there any other clues in the style of writing to suggest that it was. Believe me, I hate ruining satire by making it too obvious, but if it's indistinguishable from a genuine offering then it fails as satire.

@Dekiaii I will explain. Your perspective on the world is based on your experience of the world. An Israeli will have a different perspective of the world to a Palestinian. Their skin tones are similar, but their life experiences quite different. Words like the N word may mean much, much more to you because they relate to you and your family/ancestors personally. You would likely experience racism/disctimination first hand, and would therefore grasp it more tangibly. It's not difficult, is it?

@CapitalistOverlord I propose you get a clue on how things actually work.

...the effect it will have upon listerners, or the caller herself. And you mention the race card being played by mainstream media? Do you think this is one such example? I see far more examples of people playing the playing the race card card than I do the original hand. "Here comes the race card" seems to end all discussion. And that is what you wish to do, end discussion. Please stop asking "who cares" about things other people clearly care about. I understand that you personally claim...

...You mention "playing the race card". I think this phrase has become corrupted, and I have a new one to offer: "playing the playing the race card card". Look at this story. Black woman phones up white host for advice on dealing with racism from white associates. Host then expresses opinions strongly indicating prejudice, or extreme ignorance at best, BEFORE hearing black woman's story. Upon hearing that the N-word was used, host then repeatedly uses the word with no regard as to...

@audadvnc That is the basis for the argument that "there should be no double standards". To enforce absolute equality in language is to ignore the variables that comprise 'context'. A person talking about themself, about their family member, talking in jest, talking to somebody who shares their linguistic preferences, these things all make differences. Many people simply do not like nuances. They switch variables ("but if a black man said...") without factoring in the changes these make.
