SSky06 put it perfectly but I just want to add that while OBVIOUSLY it's a terrible thing to drive drunk, your robotic logic of "driving drunk can cost lives therefore murdering someone by shooting them in the face with a shotgun does not garner sympathy" disgusts me and if you want to know why, just remember those words if and when a child of yours makes the stupid decision to drive drunk. Do you know how many drivers have driven drunk on at least one occasions? If you ever have children, the chances are they will do so at least once - if they were murdered and someone said "well what they did endangered lives so they deserved to be shot to death", take your feelings about your own hypothetical son or daughter and apply them to this. People shouldn't HAVE to imagine everyone as their son or daughter to be bothered by them having their head shot off but that's the only way to get empathy with some people.
