I don't think sorry and pathetic cuts it with the two women - you're not just apathetic, you're complicit if you allow it to happen to your children. It doesn't take strength to go straight to the police, it takes an utter lack of humanity to do anything else. Maybe I'm being blinded by outrage but to accomodate something like this goes beyond inaction and into collective responsibility.

Just what we needed, somebody to turn this into yet another debate over God and religion. Peddle it elsewhere, please.

The source of all 'evil' seems to be lack of empathy. What we see here is a most extreme example but let's remember that the seed of good is empathy and the seed of evil is its absence.

Why do you say "fucking liberals"? People who politically lean left wing are far less likely to blindly worship military personnel. Really though it has nothing to do with this ridiculously dumbed down lib/con dichotomy, it's about how any given individual views the military. I'm acutely aware that marines are, are you say, broken down to remove the reluctance to harm and kill - go and say what you said in a conservative forum and see what reception you get. "Liberals" my arse.

These sadistic fantasies that some people go straight into indulging come from the same dark, twisted, and vile place that violence, murder, and rape come from. It never ceases to revolt me, listening to people talk in detail of unthinkable torture and sadism as though that isn't the same shit than flows through the brains of the very people you direct it towards. If the only difference between your fantasies and his is "the recipient is more deserving" then you should really question yourself.

I agree with you, despite tacitly supporting the murder you speak of, I just find it disrespectful to switch the topic to that here. I could be wrong, as it's impossible for me (or you) to see the full results, but I don't think you're helping society/individuals turn vegan. Shame is not a good incentive because of the results it tends to cause. I would recommend picking a better moment than this and being more "you can make a positive change" than "REPENT!".

We would. Look at civilisations that were more homogenous - if everybody were white then there would still be races; fair haired, dark haired, broad featured, slight features. If we were all black there'd be loose hair, tight hair, pronounced forehead, flat nosed etc. Even if we all had identical sets of physical attributes we'd divide based on location, belief, tribal identity etc. All division is an idea that we create and believe into reality because separate identity requires it.

That's your position and it's perfectly understandable. I don't share it because I'm against the death penalty and I just post this to make the point that you're either in favour of the death penalty (with as many asterisks as you want) or you're against it. If you're against it, as many claim to be, then you don't become in favour of it the moment somebody unthinkable detestable comes along. It's not about sympathy, it's about principle - death is not a card humans should play out of spite.

And yet we could never decide who should be without corruption and tragedy. Governments that wage wars and kill indiscriminately, police who murder without recourse, and a whole lot of inefficiency to top it off and you want to give them the power to sterilise? No thanks, lady!
