@mcotleur Exactly. Cenk does the same, he's no better - it just takes the right issue to bring that out in him, but yes Ana does it a lot. Personal subjective opinions are irrelevant when seeking conclusions on right and wrong. What they should have discussed it what effect this will have, they could have done this by looking at the multitude of countries who implemented this years ago. If I want to hear emotion I'll listen to the idiots where I work discuss things they don't understand.

Surely the discussion should be centred around what the *effect* of putting these on packets of cigarettes will do. Jayar was the only one to even mention it! We've had it in the UK for a few years now, and I'm of the belief that it does not deter smokers.

@acasouk So why is the US fucked up?

@Ant1Live Brilliant point. We've had these in England for years now, and in Thailand they're more extreme. I didn't meet any non smokers in Thailand, and my smoking friends sure as hell still smoke. They're accustomed to it. People either block out the thoughts of dangers or view themselves as exceptions. It's not like they don't know, and no amount of reminders will sway them. How many smokers DON'T know of somebody who's had cancer? Did it stop them smoking?

@pipersara People aren't feeling sorry for the tobacco companies, it's a fundamental issue. You don't just get to say "let's ignore this rule because these people are total dicks", that's why Cenk speaks of rights. More importantly, the smokers aren't undereducated. That's bullshit and you know it. Who are these smokers who don't know smoking can kill you? The question is, will this stop people smoking. The answer, I believe, is no.

@LivingxPrime I'd side with you on that. I don't smoke tobacco at all (I used to as here in the UK we mix our weed with it, but I've since found a perfect non tobacco alternative), but my opinion is that it doesn't stop people smoking and is just over the top. People know the dangers and if they can block that out (or make themselves an exception to the risks) then they can and DO block out the images. They've done as much as they can do, these attempts are just an embarrassment to society.

@Benjoreally There are many casual smokers. Growing up I was always presented with the myth that casual smokers don't exist, but they absolutely do. Weekend smokers, couple times a month smokers, even just on special occasion smokers. I'm friends with a few, and used to be one.

@bevivian22 Hard for me to say as I remember the labels coming in around four years ago, when I was 22. When I was in school smoking was definitely still something teenagers did, not just 'to be cool' but as a social thing (opens up *many* social circles and gives people something to do together), as well as simply because they enjoyed the experience. It definitely had a cool factor to it though. Don't know how this may have changed, personally I don't imagine the labels much if anything.
