  1. Exactly, a lot of people seem to think that "being ghetto" is a character flaw. It's where he's from! He didn't think "shall I be middle class or shall I be ghetto...". It's very ugly indeed when people think they're above a man who saved those women because "listen to how he speaks, he's an unwashed peasant" - that's essentially what "he's ghetto" is saying. Right place right time? Many many people would not have busted the door down and headed to their probable death to save strangers.

  2. If you don't decide to say "Boom. That's it. American Hero." then people will just see him as he is and respect him for what he did. When you say "let's place him on a huuugely lofty pedestal" then people are going to say "does he deserve to be *that* high?" and you're going to hear tons of negativity. Why does everybody have to be labelled? Is he a hero - isn't he a hero - I think he's a hero - I don't think he's a hero...we're obsessed with our silly labels. He's a man who did something great
