Comments by "RiC David" (@RiC_David) on "'Anti-Swearing' Pledge for Girls Only?" video.
This is so evidently true and it's fascinating though unsurprising to see how many men dislike hearing this. The same thing happens when a video highlights undeniable racism - many people from the ethnicity that's shared with those responsible get angry and claim that the prejudice doesn't exist. As a male, I'm *much* freer to be as I wish to be. I have those same oppressive expectations of females in my head, I just realise they're self absorbed and arbitrary and don't expect girls to conform.

Jaime117d stated that it's the same for men as it is for women and she rebutted, saying that there are far more rules for women. That isn't a complaint, it's a correction. If she'd have said it on its own then sure it's a complaint but she was disagreeing with the guy. "bitch, bitch, bitch. is there anything women won't complain about?" Here you're not celebrating that there's nothing women won't complain about. You're not disagreeing to anything there either. You're complaining there!

I absolutely 100% find it unpleasant (and the opposite of attractive) to hear girls or women swearing but my opinion's meaningless. We're so inclined to think that because we feel a certain way, we should be able to bend other people to our arbitrary preferences. I don't find it displeasing to hear a boy or man swear, just like I don't find tattoos ugly on males. That doesn't mean it's right or wrong, there's no Truth in such feelings. I don't like strawberries but let's not kill them all.

Do you believe that attraction is chosen? I'll give you enough credit to assume you don't. How then can you vilify a person for who they find attractive? That's what bothered me about our exchanges - you view/treat me as a bad person. It may *disgust* you but how can you say I'm a bad person? You can class me as mentally ill but how can you blame a person for being mentally ill?

She did not complain, she pointed out the reality of the situation. You, however, complained. That's something so many people do without realising, they talk about how they hate people bitching and complaining all the time without realising that what they're doing is *bitching and complaining*.

Welcome to The Young Turks, you'll find it's quite consistent.

Plato, I've tried to have an intelligent conversation with you multiple times and *you* have been crass and ignorant. I don't recall you swearing at me but it's a bit much to hear you speak about mature or intelligent communication based on your manner. Not liking a person or being philosophically opposed to them does not create an exception; if you were true to your word and believed what you just said then you would take a more sophisticated approach to addressing people, myself included.

Some do, some don't - there is no male opinion on the matter. I know that's not the answer you want but it's the only answer. I find it annoying to hear people talk about how "men like this" or "men hate that" when I'm nothing like that. Even finding our what most men think is of little relevance because it can't be attributed to their sex if there are hoardes of men who think differnetly.

Great post. As humans, we're so prone to labelling everyone and trying to fit them into categories we're familiar with. Instead of seeing them as a blank slate and responding to their words alone, we then attack the crude idea of them that we've constructed. We're ALL prone to it, that's why we need to be mindful of it. As you say, our minds like to draw instant conclusions, they want to have everyone sussed out. The reality is always *far* more complex than our quick conclusions.

It's true that in many cases it's other women who place grand importance on certain things. The fashion obsession is certainly not the creation of heterosexual males, for example. However, there are fewer social rules for males. The major exception I can think of is how men who have feminine traits are viewed as "not real men" whereas women who have masculine traits (personality, not appearance) aren't often viewed as "not real women". That aside, I'm much freer as a male - there's no template/

My optical implant's saying 2113, I'm connected to the open public server right?

Yes, it's fascinating but prejudice and bigotry aren't connected to one's ethnicity or sexuality but one's internal identity. Likewise, people with prejudices can exclude individuals from their beliefs by not viewing them as black or white, for example; hence the term "one of the good ones". All bigotry requires is generalisation, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. If that weren't the case, then nobody could be sexist because our mothers were all women!

It was you who responded to one of my comments; you essentially trolled me. It's true, I did the same to you before but let's not pretend that you haven't done it back. I have no qualms with this comment because it's less crude, but know that you obtusely block out new information. I'm not a paedophile, not by your judgement. Your concept of attraction and mine are different, this is the root of your perception of me which is many miles from the reality of my mind. You refuse this information.
